Kewaunee School District breaks ground for additions and renovations

Rainy weather made it too muddy to hold the planned groundbreaking for Kewaunee School District’s additions and renovations outside on April 25, so school officials moved the ceremony into the gym. The school district will be spending up to $16.2 million to make improvements to the high school, raze the existing Hillcrest School for use as athletic fields, and build a new agricultural education building. The high school’s technical education areas will be upgraded and other improvements are planned. More than 1,000 K-12 students, faculty and visitors packed into the gym for the half-hour ceremony. Dirt was brought in on a tarp so officials could still “break the ground.”
