School wells in Casco found to be safe
Tests of the wells at Luxemburg-Casco Middle School and Holy Trinity School, both in Casco, showed no dangerous bacteria, Kewaunee County Public Health Nurse Cynthia Kinnard said Friday.
“The wells are bacteriologically safe for kids,” Kinnard said.
The wells were tested this week after a well within a half-mile of the schools was reported on May 1 to be contaminated with salmonella and/or rotavirus.
No additional tests of the schools’ wells are planned for now, Kinnard said.. As a public school, Luxemburg-Casco Middle School is required to test its well quarterly and post the results, she said.
