LUXEMBURG – The Spartans shut out their opponent to win the progam’s first-ever regional title on June 4.

Kate Delcore got the scoring started off an assist from Alison Miceli. Liz Benson recorded two more goals and an assist, while Sarah Iverson scored the final goal for Luxemburg-Casco.

Mikayla Smka tallied four saves and the shutout in net in the Luxemburg-Casco victory.

The second-seeded Spartans are scheduled to play at top seed Green Bay Notre Dame in a sectional semifinal at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 9.

Regional semifinals

The Luxemburg-Casco girls soccer team rolled its way through to a regional final on Saturday, defeating Little Chute 11-1 in a WIAA Division 3 playoff opener June 2.

Kate Delcore scored four goals for Luxemburg-Casco, while Kamryn Koss had three and Liz Benson added two more. Miranda Massey and Hannah Judkins each tallied one goal a piece.

Mikayla Smka made three saves in net and picked up the win. Kendra Schumacher scored the lone goal for Little Chute.

In Division 4, second-seeded Kiel edged No. 7 Kewaunee 3-2 to advance.

The Storm took an early lead in the fifth minute after Carrie Worth scored the first goal of the game off of an assist from Morgan Konop.

The Raiders finally broke through the Storm defense and scored two goals within six minutes from Haleigh Stephany and Brooke Muehlbauer to go up 2-1. Assists came from Erica Elauck and Megan Stermer.

Kewaunee would tie up the game just before the half with a goal from Kembra Browne off of an assist from Serenna LaRock in the 43rd minute of play.

The second half proved to be a grudge match until Muehlbauer scored the game winning goal with two and half minutes left in the competition. Muehlbauer was assisted by Cheyenne Krueger.

In the net, Storm goalie Alyssa Johanek recorded 13 saves and Raider goalie Savannah Walsdorf had seven.
