KEWAUNEE- Jacob Czech, a senior at Kewaunee High School, was named the winner of the Kewaunee County American Legion Oratorical Contest held at the Luxemburg Community Center for his presentation, “We the People.”

Czech advanced to compete in the Legion’s District 9 contest in Wrightstown, with district winners moving on to the state and national contests.

Orators give an eight- to 10-minute presentation on one aspect of the Constitution and the people’s duties and responsibilities toward it. The contest starts at the county level and works its way to the national contest, where the winner earns an $18,000 scholarship and the runner-up a $14,000 scholarship.

High school students interested in participating in the Legion oratorical contest should contact their student advisers.
