Friday, Jan. 5

ART RECEPTION, 5-8 p.m., James May Gallery, 213 Steele St., Algoma. Opening of new exhibit with paintings by Jodi Hays, drawings by Lesley Wamsley, and work by Craig Grabhorn; artist talk by Grabhorn about 6:30 p.m. Exhibit runs through end of February. 262-753-3130 or www.jamesmaygallery.com.

Saturday, Jan. 6

SPORTSMEN FUNDRAISER, 4 p.m.-midnight, Kewaunee Heritage Farm, N2251 State 42, three miles south of Kewaunee. For Carlton Hunting & Fishing Club. Free food. Live music starting at 8 p.m. Raffles. Free admission. 

COOKBOOKS, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Book Corner, 401 Third St., Algoma. Inventory reduction; free cookbook to anyone who stops in.  

Saturday, Jan. 7

POLKA DANCE, 1-5 p.m., JW’s Place-Slovan, N5685 County E, Casco. Music by Mark Jirikovec Band. 920-837-2211. 

Tuesday, Jan. 9

TOPS WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM, 8:45-10 a.m. Tuesdays, Knudson Hall, 620 Lake St., Algoma (use Clark Street entrance). Visitors welcome. 920-487-2797.

Wednesday, Jan. 10 

MATINEE, 1 p.m., Algoma Public Library, 406 Fremont St. “The Glass House,” PG-13 movie released in 2001 about an orphaned pair of teens who become suspicious of the married couple that takes them in. Bring your lunch. 920-487-2295 or www.algomapubliclibrary.org.

Thursday, Jan. 11

PORT CITY AA MEETING, 8-9 p.m. Thursdays, Community Congregational Church, 502 Center St., Kewaunee. 

SPORTSMEN’S MEETING, 7 p.m., Rendezvous of Luxemburg, E896 County N. For the Algoma-Kewaunee Area Great Lakes Sports Fishermen Club; guest speaker, Nick Legler of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Light lunch. Guests welcome.

Friday, Jan. 12

PRESCHOOL STORY TIME, 10 a.m. Fridays, Algoma Public Library, 406 Fremont St. Pre-K children and their caretakers take part in fun books, songs and activities. 920-487-2295.

Saturday, Jan. 13 

BENEFIT, 4-10 p.m. Beverly Gardens, 5911 Pine Grove Road, Eaton. Fundraiser for Carina (Van Pay) DeGrave, who has polycystic kidney disease. Food served 4:30-7 p.m. Auctions and raffles. $10 admission for ages 8 and older.

Thursday, Jan. 18
