ALGOMA –  The Algoma Public Library received a competitive grant to take part in the Great Stories Club, a reading and discussion program for underserved teenagers.

The library system was selected as one of 100 libraries nationwide to receive the grant and put together Great Stories, essentially a book club for teens. The grant is offered by the American Library Association with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Samantha (Sammy) Jackson, young adult librarian for the library, will work with Otho Ball, an instructor at Pathfinder Academy, an alternative school in Algoma, to have participating teens read and discuss stories that explore the concept of empathy and what it means to be a hero.

For more information, call Jackson at 920-487-2295 or email [email protected].
