Packers look good, but it’s still just the preseason

The Green Bay Packers look good in preseason so far.

It sure seems like the Pack has some promising young talent on its roster. I think the coaches will have a rough time deciding who makes the final roster and who goes to the practice squad. I wouldn't want that job. But that's why the coaches get paid the big bucks and why they play the preseason.

But, these games don't count anyway. It's the regular season that matters and that starts next month. And I'm looking forward to watching my favorite team play on Sundays.

Football season and golf season are my two favorite times of the year. The rest of the time, the seasons are tolerated.

That's one thing about golf — you can play until you can't swing anymore. I know my dad was well into his 80s and still playing until he got cancer and couldn't any more. I probably will try to follow his lead. I do know that as I age, the ball doesn't go as far. I've lost a lot of distance in the past couple of years and don't like that.

Our league season is coming to an end, but we will continue to play until the weather prevents it. And that will happen soon enough. Not looking forward to the cold. The last couple of winters have been hard to take as I age. Now I know why seniors head south in fall and winter.

► I found some cute sayings on the internet about us seniors. And since I fit in that category, here are some of them:

I'm the life of the party — even if it lasts until 8 p.m.

I'm very good at opening childproof caps — with a hammer.

I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I am going.

I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.

I'm very good at telling stories; over and over and over …

I'm not really grouchy, I just don't like traffic, waiting, crowds, lawyers, loud music, unruly kids, barking dogs, politicians and a few other things I can't quite remember right now.

I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.

I'm sure they are making adults much younger these days, and when did they let kids become policemen?

How can my kids be older than I feel sometimes? If you're only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 150?

I'm a walking storeroom of facts, but I've lost the key to the storeroom door.

Yes, I'm a senior citizen, and I think I am having the time of my life.

Have a great week, everyone, and don't do anything I wouldn't do.
