Ponderosa Dairy string cheese from Kewaunee wins silver medal at World Cheese Awards
KEWAUNEE – Pagel's Ponderosa Dairy won a silver medal at the World Cheese Awards held Nov. 2 and 3 in Bergen, Norway for its Ponderosa Farmstead String Cheese.
The award came in the "Mozzarella, cows' milk in block, slices or string" category. It was among 24 medals won by Wisconsin cheese makers this year, about a quarter of the total awards given to U.S. cheese makers.
The World Cheese Awards, now in its 30th year, received a record-breaking 3,500 entries from around the world. Entries were judged by 230 experts from 29 nations.
Ponderosa Farmstead cheeses are available at Ron's Wisconsin Cheese, 124 Main St., Luxemburg.
