TWO RIVERS – Point Beach Nuclear Plant will conduct maintenance on emergency sirens in Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties that are within 10 miles of the plant — its 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone — between Monday, Aug. 31, and Sept. 11 (except Sept. 7, Labor Day), and residents may hear sirens activated during the maintenance.

The sirens will sound for one to three minutes, and residents also may notice activity at and around the siren sites. Also, the sirens in the zone will be activated for three minutes once all the maintenance is completed.

Individuals who have concerns during the testing and are unsure if activities near the sirens may be related to the maintenance can call the Kewaunee County Emergency Management Department at 920-845-9701 or 920-388-3100 for verification. In the event of an actual emergency, dial 911.
