Fundraiser takes place in Luxemburg for area first responder fighting brain cancer

LUXEMBURG – Friends and area rescue personnel are getting together to help a fellow first responder in his fight against brain cancer.
Brian Limberg was diagnosed with the deadly disease in March. When not working for Lakes Gas in Luxemburg, he's been a firefighter for the Denmark Volunteer Fire Department since its Station 2 was established in 2003 and emergency medical responder for the towns of Eaton and New Franken, responding to emergencies in southern Kewaunee County as well as Brown County.
Since his diagnosis, Limberg has not been able to continue with his job or his community service as a responder. To help the 63-year-old town of Eaton resident with mounting expenses, a benefit fundraiser for Limberg is taking place Sunday at CZ's Bushville Lanes in Luxemburg.
The Bellevue Snow Diamonds Snowmobile Club, Thrivent Financial and Catholic Financial Life Chapter 307 of Eaton are organizing the event with help from Limberg's fellow emergency personnel, who also are seeking donations to help the cause.
The benefit will offer a silent auction, bucket raffles, a meat raffle, 50/50 raffle and a bake sale. One special raffle will be for a battery-powered toy fire truck (tickets $5 each or three for $10). Bill Jartz of WBAY-TV Action 2 News will serve as an auctioneer. Food and refreshments will be available and the Mark Jirikovec Band will supply polka and dance music from 1 to 5 p.m. All proceeds will help cover expenses for Limberg.
The benefit event for Limberg starts at 11 a.m. Sunday at CZ's Bushville Lanes, 2280 County P, Luxemburg. Donations for the raffles and auction are being accepted, and cash donations will be accepted at the event. For more information, call Amy Schraufnagel at 920-360-4621 or Merle Kulhanek at 920-621-5617.
Also, a benefit account has been established for Limberg at Nicolet National Bank. Cash donations or checks made payable to "Brian Limberg" can be contributed at any Nicolet National Bank location in the area or be mailed to: Brian Limberg Benefit, c/o Amy Schraufnagel, Nicolet National Bank, 111 N. Washington St., Green Bay, WI 54301. Debit and credit cards cannot be accepted for this fund.
