LUXEMBURG – A 33-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on a charge of abusing a 7-year-old girl so badly she was critically injured.

Alan T. Finch of Luxemburg was charged with reckless physical abuse of a child, and additional charges may be issued as the investigation into the incident continues.

The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department received a call at about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday from a Green Bay hospital that was treating the girl for injuries the hospital staff said were consistent with physical abuse, according to a press release from the sheriff's department.

The girl was unconscious and listed in critical condition before she was sent to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee for continued treatment.

Along with the Sheriff’s Department, Kewaunee County Human Services and members of the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation are conducting follow-up investigations.
