Craft beer, wine and food help local Lions Clubs at Kewaunee County brewfest
LUXEMBURG – Roar off the Shore Brewfest offers beer, wine, food − and lots of all of those − and the chance to help out area organizations at the same time.
The event takes place for a 15th time March 25 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds, and advance tickets are on sale, in person and online, through March 21.
The tremendously popular annual event is the main fundraiser each year for the Kewaunee and Dyckesville Lions Clubs, which pour the proceeds directly back into the local nonprofit and charitable organizations they support. From generating about $100 total in its first year, the brewfest has in recent years raised about $10,000 for each club.
In past years, the Dyckesville Lions have given much of their portion of the revenues for improvements to Red River County Park and its baseball field as well as the Lions Club Park in the village, while the Kewaunee Lions have donated their funds to ongoing improvements at the county's Bruemmer Park Zoo, among others. The Lakeshore Food Pantry, Special Olympics and Toys for Tots have been among other beneficiaries, and the clubs have offered scholarships for graduating high school students. Funds also go to local efforts for the Lions' national causes of blindness, vision and diabetes care.
The other reasons for Roar Off the Shore, of course, are the beers, wine and food. More than 200 different craft beers from breweries throughout Wisconsin, including many of those in Kewaunee and Door counties and the Green Bay area, will be available, as well as beers from area home brewers and brewing clubs.
Guests also can sample more than 75 varieties of wine from wineries in Kewaunee County and Northeast Wisconsin, and eight local restaurants, bakeries and food producers will keep visitors fed.
Roar Off the Shore Brewfest takes place from 2 to 6 p.m. March 25 in Exhibition Hall at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds, 625 Third St., Luxemburg. Tickets are $45 in advance through March 21, $50 at the door if not sold out (at the door tickets may be limited); admission includes beer, wine and food samples and a commemorative glass. Designated driver admission is $10 and includes free soda and food samples throughout the event. All proceeds benefit programs supported by the Kewaunee and Dyckesville Lions Clubs.
