Name: Sami Treml

Sport: Soccer

Parents: Josh and Sally Treml

You play center midfield. For those who don’t know, what do your duties look like as a game goes on? What’s your job on the field?

As a center mid, I do a lot of running. I play more of a holding mid so I tend to help out our defense by stepping at attacking players or marking up and defending certain players. However, being a center midfielder, I also play a part in attacking and assisting goals being scored. Overall it’s a lot of running up and down the field!

Favorite professional football/soccer team and player?

San Diego Wave- Alex Morgan

Tell us a little bit about what it’s like to play soccer at the very beginning of the high school season when the ground is barely thawed enough to run on. That must be miserable.

It definitely isn’t ideal to play in the freezing cold, snow, rain, and muddy fields however we make the best of it! Some of my favorite memories of soccer games are the ones in the mud since when one girl gets mud on her we all end up with mud on us. In the past, we’ve even used mud for eye black!

You tore your ACL early in your career as a high school athlete. How did you get past that mentally to get back to participating in a sport that is obviously tough on the knees?

Every day after my surgery I worked hard in rehab to get back. My main goal was to be back for the first day of Junior basketball season since it was right at 9 months. Many people didn’t think it was possible however with hard work and determination I made it back. However, playing in a gym is quite different from a soccer field. Even though I was considered cleared for sports I was very nervous that I would get hurt again or re-tear it. My teammates, family members, and coaches pushed me through and built my confidence throughout my practices, games, and seasons to get me to where I am today.

What other sports do you play?

Basketball

What are your parent’s names?

Josh and Shelly Treml

Any siblings?

Brother Jacob Treml- Sophomore

What are your plans for after high school?

I will be attending Concordia University Wisconsin Mequon- for social work
