LUXEMBURG – The Luxemburg-Casco softball team is having little trouble scoring at this point in the season, racking up and eye-popping 56 runs over the course of its most recent four games while allowing only 12 during that stretch.

On May 5 in a doubleheader against Fox Valley Lutheran, the Spartans got four RBIs on three hits from Kylie Hanson, highlighted by a home run in the second, en route to a 17-6 blowout win.

Kate Van Ess got the win on the mound for L-C as the sophomore went two innings, allowing zero hits while striking out three in the quick opener.

Friday’s game two saw the Spartans crank 12 hits on their way to a 15-0 shutout. Jillian Jorgenson and Magdeline Hanmann both had two RBIs in the win while Savannah Jandrin picked up the win on two innings of work, allowing just one hit while striking out three.

L-C recorded another lopsided win on May 9 as it put up 11 runs in the third inning in an 18-1 drubbing of the Truckers in Clintonville.

The big third inning was powered by singles from Van Ess, Joslyn Dorner, Erin Cherovsky and Hanmann, walks by Hanson and Kaminski, a groundout by Jillian Jorgensen, and an error on a ball put in play by Grace Kahr.

Jandrin took the win on the mound for L-C. The righthander lasted three innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out three and walking zero.

Van Ess threw one inning in relief.

On May 10, the Spartans faced, and then overcame, a deficit in a narrow 6-5 road win over Little Chute.

The Mustangs plated three in the third inning to start the game’s scoring but L-C got it together in the fifth with three of its own, followed by another three in the sixth to secure the win.

Kahr and Payton Kaminski each had two RBIs in the victory while Jandrin went the entire game on the mound, striking out three and giving up six hits.

The win saw the Spartans move to 17-1 overall for the year with only a single game still between them and first place Freedom.
