Nominations sought for Kewaunee Wall of Fame

KEWAUNEE – Do you know a Kewaunee graduate who has graduated at least 20 years ago and has made a positive impact on the world?
They may be a good candidate for the Build the Future Foundation’s Wall of Fame.
The Build the Future Foundation gets “grant requests from teachers at the Kewaunee School District…and teachers are requesting basically something that’s not in the school’s budget, but that can supplement, you know, educational things that they do in their classroom,” said Jacki Alverson from Novak Agency.
“Build the Future, they get funds through donations, but they also have two fundraisers they do. One is in conjunction with Booster Club, they do a golf challenge in the summer. And then the other is, we have a Wall of Fame banquet.
“So, each year, we get nominations for those that might be on the Wall of Fame at Kewaunee, and then we select maybe two to four people depending on the year and the number of nominations that we get to honor them at the banquet, and then the banquet also serves as a fundraiser that, you know, go to the fund itself for Build the Future.”
The Wall of Fame was introduced in 2002.
“Those that are eligible to be nominated, they have to be graduates of Kewaunee High School, they had to have graduated at least 20 years ago, and then they just, you know, they have to be someone that’s done something to better humanity, attained some sort of high achievement, or made a difference, you know, in the world. Any one of those or any combination of those,” Alverson explained.
The nomination form is available at www.kewaunee.k12.wi.us/page/wall-of-fame or contact the school district.
Nominations must be submitted by Jan. 2.
