Spartans defeat Cougars, claim top spot in Pulaski

LUXEMBURG – On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Luxemburg-Casco High wrestling team competed in a non-conference dual meet against an old foe, the Coleman Cougars at Luxemburg.
L-C won nine weight classes to defeat Coleman 41-23 and move to 17-0 in dual meets this season including 7-0 in conference competition to win the North Eastern Conference championship.
On Saturday, Jan. 27, L-C wrestled at the 54th annual Pulaski Invitational and the Spartans won the event for the 12th time.
L-C scored 258.5 points while second place Kaukauna had 251 points.
The Spartans had eight wrestlers make their championship matches, finishing with three top finishers —138 pound Caleb Delebreau,144 pound Isaac Jerabek and 190 pound Trace Schoenebeck.
Other top finishers for L-C included Jake Jandrin, 106 pounds, second place; Carson Blohowiak, 113 pounds, second place; Carson Neubert, 120 pounds, second place; Max Ronsman, 150 pounds, second place; Ezra Waege, 215 pounds, second place; Michael Bostwick, 126 pounds, third place; Blakelee Bastien, 132 pounds, third place; Sam Schutz, 175 pounds, fifth place; Caleb Salentine, 285 pounds, seventh place.
Storm score 21 in loss to Bulldogs
PESHTIGO – The Kewaunee wrestling team scored a handful of points via fall against Peshtigo on Thursday, Jan. 25 but came up short on the scoreboard in a 57-21 final.
Isaac Benz pinned his opponent at 4:53 to record the first Storm points of the evening, followed by a win by fall at 3:15 by Kemper Robinson at 190 pounds.
Mitchell Boeder pinned his man at :53 to win the 285-pound bout before teammate Aiden Ducat closed out the Kewaunee scoring by taking three points on a 3-1 decision at 113 pounds.
