ALGOMA – Every year, members of the Algoma community gather together and organize a Halloween Walk for children of all ages. This year marks the event’s 17th occurrence. As a non-profit event, the Halloween Walk’s goal is to give children a safe and fun opportunity to meet their favorite TV/movie characters. Children dress in their Halloween costumes and walk through Algoma High School’s hallways, where they can see their favorite characters come to life. This year’s walk will feature Bluey and Bingo, Lilo and Stitch, Minecraft characters, Elsa in her castle, Inside Out characters, a walkthrough of Batman’s cave, your favorite Disney princesses, Toy Story characters, a haunted house and much more.
After the walk, visitors are invited to visit a craft area, energy zone, enjoy games, a bake sale and concessions. The craft area will offer temporary tattoos, Halloween crafts, Halloween movies and more. The energy zone will feature bouncy houses, an obstacle course and a Lego building station. Don’t forget to take a ride on Thomas the Train. Davys_inks of Algoma will provide the temporary tattoos.
The 17th annual Halloween Walk takes place on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Algoma High School, 1715 Division St., Algoma. Every $1 from children’s admission will be donated to the Algoma Violence Intervention Project.
The Algoma Halloween Walk is an organization that strives to create an opportunity for students, big and small, and the community. The event utilizes local middle and high school students as actors and hopes create a better event than the last every year. AHS alumni and local community members who volunteer their time and talents also help make this event possible. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Rachel Vandermause at rvandermause@algomaschools.org.
