ALGOMA – The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to help bolster small businesses, which vital role play in the local economy. This partnership aims to deliver easily accessible and free one-on-one business consultations directly to the diverse array of businesses operating within Kewaunee County. By removing financial constraints, this initiative aims to foster a thriving and resilient business environment throughout the community.
These confidential small business consultations are structured to provide comprehensive support to entrepreneurs across the entire lifecycle of their business. For those embarking on the journey of launching a new business venture, these consultations can provide support in navigating the initial hurdles, from understanding regulatory requirements and securing necessary permits to developing effective marketing strategies and creating and maintaining efficiency. Established businesses looking to scale their operations can also benefit from discussions on identifying new market opportunities, optimizing internal processes, exploring potential partnerships and developing strategies for sustainable growth. For business owners contemplating future transitions, such as retirement or the sale of their business, these consultations can offer guidance on valuation and navigating the complexities of ownership transfer.
Beyond providing expert advice and strategic guidance, the consultations can also serve as a link to a broader ecosystem of support in Kewaunee County and the state of Wisconsin as a whole.
Participants can gain valuable insights into the diverse range of state and regional resources, including potential funding opportunities, mentorship programs, industry-specific training and other support services that can help them to achieve their specific business goals. Because of the unique needs and challenges of each business, advance registration is mandatory to ensure each consultation is tailored and dedicated time is set aside for a focused and productive discussion. This personalized approach highlights the Chamber’s commitment to providing meaningful support.
Appointments are available on Monday, May 19 from 12-4 p.m.; Monday, June 16 from 12-4 p.m.; Monday, July 21 from 12-4 p.m. and Monday, August 18 from 12-4 p.m.
The Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Green Bay — part of a statewide network — offers free and confidential consulting and educational programs to support entrepreneurs and business owners. SBDC experts assist small and emerging mid-size companies in improvement and growth, and those looking to launch new businesses. As part of the Universities of Wisconsin Office of Business and Entrepreneurship, the SBDC network provides statewide business outreach through education, referrals, tools and resources for businesses at all stages.
This isn’t the Chamber’s first intiative to support local businesses. In 2024, the Chamber hosted Small Business Saturday on November 30, and they plan to continue to invest in the community.
Visit the Chamber’s website for more information, which includes a link to schedule a free consultation. Chamber membership is not required to take advantage of this free service.
