ALGOMA – An Algoma couple is now part of an exclusive club.
Stuart and Lorraine Storm celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on May 15.
“It’s quite a blessing,” Stuart said. “We’ve lived through a lot of changes in the past 75 years.”
Stuart, 93, and Lorraine, 94, graduated from high school in 1948 and were married in May of 1949.
They met at Algoma High School when Lorraine transferred in as a junior.
Her locker was across the hall from Stuart’s, so they bumped into each other several times a day.
“I didn’t know we would be spending the rest of our lives together,” Stuart reminisced, “but I sure love that we are.”
The happy couple still live in the same house Stuart built for Lorraine and their four boys in Algoma in the 1950s.
In addition to their four sons – Jay (age 70), Stacy (69), Tad (67) and Kelly (63), they have 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
“A happy marriage is all about give and take,” said Stuart. “She gives the orders, and I take them.”
