STURGEON BAY - The BayLake Regional Destination Imagination tournament will be held March 4 at Sturgeon Bay High School.
The tournament is a collaborative, problem-solving event with student teams from Sturgeon Bay, Denmark, Algoma, Sevastopol, Gibraltar, St. Paul’s (Algoma), Southern Door, Luxemburg-Casco, St. Mary School (Algoma), St. Peter’s Lutheran (Sturgeon Bay), and Notre Dame.
The teams will present their creative solutions to a number of mind-bending challenges in the fields of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), and service learning. This year, the BayLake Regional will be represented with 51 teams.
Destination Imagination tournaments are being held across 40 states and in more than 15 countries and include students from elementary, middle, high school, and university levels.
DI creates the challenges to call on student skills and talents in many areas, including scientific understanding, theatrical performance, technical prowess, improvisation, and structural engineering.The event is free and open to the public.
Top teams from our area will advance to a statewide tournament April 8 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The teams that advance beyond the state level will compete in the DI Global Finals tournament May 24-27 in Knoxville, Tenn.
