ALGOMA – Algoma High School Senior Teagen Luedke will head to Atlanta, Ga., to participate in the 2023 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Middle School & High School National Leadership Conference this summer.

Luedke qualified for the national competition at the 2023 Wisconsin Chapter of the FBLA State Leadership Conference held in Green Bay in April.

Luedke is a four-year member of the Algoma FBLA.

“I have been a member of FBLA since freshman year and the president of the club since sophomore year. I have been very active in the volunteer work that comes with FBLA and have attended numerous FBLA workshops and events,” she said.

Luedke qualified at the state level in the healthcare administration event.

“I took a test on healthcare information and I chose this because I work at the ER at Door County Medical Center and will be going for pre-med next year, so this way I was able to tie in my love for healthcare with FBLA,” she explained.

“It is so rewarding, as someone who has been in FBLA for four years and has not seen anyone from our school reach nationals since about five years ago.”

Her FBLA Advisor Maree Baumann said that Luedke’s accomplishment stems from her passion for the medical field.

“She is driven and appreciates the value of working and volunteering in her desired career area while in high school. Her ability to do well in her competitive event of health care management is a testament to the value of work experience during high school. She is able to increase her knowledge through hands-on application. To get to nationals takes a real understanding of the competitive event subject,” Baumann explained.

Luedke and  Baumann will travel to Atlanta for national competition June 27-30.
