Kewaunee senior heavyweight Mitchell Boeder ended an impressive wrestling career by earning fourth place at the WIAA State Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison last weekend.
In four years at Kewaunee, Boeder compiled a 158-38 record with 116 career pins.
Boeder (38-8) beat Kenosha Saint Joseph senior Dante Wiliams (37-11) 2-0, then pinned Stratford junior Owen Lueck (42-6) Friday. On Saturday, he was pinned by Aquinas senior Tyson Martin (45-1) and Boyceville senior Zach Hellendrung (53-5).
The Storm’s 106-pound entry, sophomore Samuel Kraynik, loss a major decision in the first round, then pinned Gabriel Mueller (23-12) of Rosholt before losing by decision.
Meanwhile, 157-pound senior Trevor Gauthier (35-16) lost by fall to Emmett Collins of Mineral Point (31-8) and by sudden victory, 4-1 in overtime to Jeffrey Stefanich (45-11) of Random Lake.
On the girls’ side, Kewaunee’s 165-pound sophomore Arianna Niemojuski pinned Unity sophomore Evelyn Fugate (38-5) before losing by fall to junior Kimura Hutter (39-4) of Adams-Friendship.
After pinning Racine Horlick sophomore Kari Sunde-Hogy (47-8) in her first match Saturday, her season ended with an injury in the second period of her consolation semifinal.
