Posted

Students in grades 8 through 12 from Kewaunee County high schools and their parents are invited to attend Career Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 20 in the gymnasium at Kewaunee High School.

Career representatives will be available to talk to students and parents about their occupations. It will be a career-fair type atmosphere, in which visitors may talk to as many career representatives as possible and perhaps learn about careers they did not know about.

Students can gain insights on future career options or obtain information for immediate employment after high school. Some area technical colleges, such as Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Lakeshore Technical College and Fox Valley Technical College, will have representatives present.

Some of the career fields represented include welder, construction worker, press operator, gas utility worker, military, DNR warden, cosmetologist, auto collision technician, engineer, police officer, computer technician, graphic designer, veterinarian, diagnostic medical sonographer, medical lab technician, physical therapy assistant, social workers, chiropractor, CNC machinist, underground pipeline worker, nurse, milk tester, banker, attorney, speech and language therapist, physical therapist and accountant.

Regional businesses and companies, some looking for employees, which will be on hand include Great Lakes TV Seal, Inc.; DeLeers Construction; WS Packaging; Packer Fastener; Manitowoc Public Utilities; Rice Engineering; Georgia Pacific Co; Agropur, Inc.; Atrium Health; Quali T, Inc.; Kewaunee Fabrications; and Miron Construction.

Kewaunee High School is at 911 Third St. Admission to Career Night is free; visitors can ask the career representatives relevant questions to win candy and door prizes. For more information, call KHS counselor Steve Meyer at 920-388-2951, Ext. 454, or email smeyer@kewaunee.k12.wi.us.
