With more COVID-19 vaccines available and fewer people coming in to get them, the health departments in Kewaunee and Door counties announced some changes to their vaccination plans for the past week.
The Kewaunee County Public Health Department planned to accept walk-in visits for the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, while supplies lasted on May 4 and 6, during its regular vaccine clinics at its Lincoln Street location, fitting them in among those who previously made appointments. The department continues to schedule appointments, as well.
As of Wednesday, it was not known if the practice of accepting walk-ins will continue in coming weeks — it depends on supply versus demand — but the department posts such information at the beginning of the week on its page on the county website, kewauneeco.org, as well as the county Facebook page, facebook.com/KewauneeCounty. For appointments or more information, call the health department at 920-388-7160.
The Door County Health and Human Services Department announced it is changing the number of vaccines it is requesting, the number of appointments offered and times of its vaccine clinics as demand continues to decrease.
Beginning May 5, the department's vaccine clinics shift from a drive-thru clinic to a walk-thru clinic at the Aging and Disability Resource Center, 832 N. 14th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. Appointments still are required and will be scheduled in the late afternoon to early evening to accommodate and encourage those who may be working or in school to receive the vaccine. The department is using both the J&J and the two-dose Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines.
