Driving test website helps students prepare, licensed drivers sharpen skills

Of the many duties we perform in law enforcement, traffic safety is probably one of our most time-consuming and visible duties.

When you consider the vast miles of roadway just within Kewaunee County, and the number of drivers operating on the road at any given time, it represents the greatest potential for incidents and accidents in comparison to all other activities throughout our communities.

In an effort to maintain these safe roadways, we routinely partner with various organizations, both governmental and non-governmental.

Recently I was provided with a great tool which offered what I feel is an essential service, and I wanted to share it with the community.

It has been developed by Driving-Tests.org and provides not only a great source of statistical data but also some great interactive resources for keeping all of us up to date on our driving skills.

For those with teenagers preparing to get their driver’s licenses, this site offers practice tests, along with a Department of Motor Vehicles simulator test. It also has some great information on what documentation is needed when going to take your test.

For those of us who have been driving for a while, these tests are a great way to sharpen up our skills. I personally took the test and realized I need to brush up on my own knowledge in regards to some of the basic road safety guidelines.

The website not only has information regarding tests and resources for the standard Class D operators, but also for those considering obtaining their motorcycle endorsements or Commercial Drivers Licenses.

Included on this website are test sections labeled Easy, Hard and Hardest, each of them focusing on specific scenarios and decision points.

Another great component of this site is the Parent-Teen Driving Contract. This document is a great tool to solidify an understanding between parents and young drivers that they will not engage in distracted driving behavior. In an age where we are all distracted by those little electronic devices, any measure which will keep them out of the hands of drivers is a great idea and will no doubt have a positive impact on the safety of our roadways.
