Good friends Kathy and Dan Brown invited me over for Easter dinner with their family. I happily accepted. They have quite a crew when they all get together. It was very enjoyable with a lot more action than I'm used to lately.
Kathy put on a great meal with ham, scalloped potatoes and all the trimmings, including several homemade pies for dessert. All the camaraderie made for an enjoyable afternoon, complete with a dance routine by the Brown's granddaughters, Willow (age 4) and Wren (age 2). Thanks to Dan, Kathy and their extended family. I really enjoyed it.
As mentioned previously, my good friend Lou is in assisted living at Linden Manor and I've gotten to know their staff members. One of the workers has her daughter and five grandchildren staying with them temporarily while they are relocating in Kewaunee.
A couple of weeks ago, she said her daughter wasn't feeling well, but had promised to take all the kids swimming at the fitness center. So grandma volunteered to take them, which she did. They got there and were all fitted out with flotation devices and headed for the pool. The 3-year-old was floating around on her back while grandma was showing some of the older children the fundamentals of swimming, like the dog paddle, etc.
While concentrating on the others, the little one just floated away. All of a sudden she heard, “Grandma.” It wasn't a scared cry, just her little granddaughter letting her know she was on the move. Grandma thought it was funny, and no harm was done.
I've been watching a lot of college basketball with the NCAA tournaments. Wisconsin men made it to the Sweet 16 before losing to Notre Dame who then lost to North Carolina. I think North Caroline wins the gold ball.
On the woman's side, UConn will take home the gold. They are just that good.
And please, don't bet any money based on my predictions. It's only a guess and not an educated one, either..
Did you hear about the rich old miser laying on his death bed? He knew the end was near and called in his lawyer, doctor and priest.
He said, “I know I'm dying and want to make sure I take my money with me. I'm going to give each of you $150,000 and ask that you put it in my coffin before burial”
The three of them met a couple of weeks later. The priest was filled with guilt because he only put $100,000 in the coffin. The doctor also felt guilty because he only put $80,000 in the coffin.
The lawyer said, “Why are you two so dishonest?” He pulled out his checkbook and said, “I wrote out a check to him for the full $150,000 and put it in the coffin.”
Have a great week, everyone.
