The second War on the Shore football game of 2015 is scheduled for Friday night, as the Kewaunee Storm invades Algoma for a rematch against the Wolves.
Kewaunee won the first round 30-12 on its home turf Aug. 28, which was the 120th meeting between the two teams.
The five Packerland Conference teams that play 11-man football have turned to home-and-home agreements to fill their schedules, after several of the league's smaller schools switched to 8-man football.
In this week's other game involving a Kewaunee County team, Luxemburg-Casco travels to Wrightstown to take on the North Central Conference-leading Tigers, who ran their record to 5-0 with a 27-15 victory over Waupaca on Sept. 18.
Last week's games:
Kewaunee 20, Sturgeon Bay 14 (OT)
Mitch Kudick caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Noah Kleiman in overtime to lift Kewaunee over Sturgeon Bay.
The Clippers led 14-6 late in the fourth quarter, but the Storm tied the game with 1 minute, 35 seconds remaining on a 1-yard touchdown run by Alex Robinson and a two-point conversion. A blocked punt gave the Storm good field possession to start the tying touchdown drive, which was later kept alive by a horse-collar-tackle penalty against the Clippers on third down and long.
Cooper Nellis had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Clippers a 7-0 lead. The Storm closed the gap to 7-6 when Anthony Barta recovered a fumble in the end zone with six seconds remaining in the first half.
The Clippers went ahead 14-6 midway through the fourth quarter on a touchdown pass from Ethan Knipfer to Connor Gajda, but couldn’t hold on.
Kewaunee improved to 3-2, 3-0. Sturgeon Bay dropped to 0-5, 0-3.
