LUXEMBURG - It’s estimated that skin cancer strikes one in five people in their lifetimes, and the Kewaunee County Public Health Department is partnering with Prevea Health to increase awareness in the community.
The public is invited to get a free examination for skin cancer from 9 a.m. to noon April 7 at the Prevea Luxemburg Health Center. The screening is open to all age groups.
Medical professionals will offer spot checks, discuss signs of skin cancer and share advice on how to protect one's skin.
"The single best way to protect yourself is to use sunscreen any time that you’re outdoors," said Cindy Kinnard, RN and director of the health department. “The sun is out year-round, so we need UV protection in spring, summer, fall and winter, too.”
Prevea Luxemburg is at 101 School Creek Trail, Luxemburg. Appointments are requested. To register and schedule an appointment, call the health department at 920-388-7160.
