Rosiere: Walloon Belgians from Europe have attended Belgian Days for the last four years. Sunday brought four Belgians visiting Green Bay and two visiting at Oak Park, Illinois.
Kewaunee: Professional belly dancer Shahira will give two performances at the Kewaunee Trout Festival. The weekend also features Baruska Bohemian dancers, Wild West Day, a parade, craft fair and, of course, trout boils.
Algoma: Rev. Schumacher of St. Agnes By the Lake Episcopal Church will be the speaker at the July 14 interfaith luncheon at the Fireside in Algoma. Everyone is welcome.
Algoma: Mr. and Mrs. Louie Wautlet are the new owners of Nickolai Grocery and Toy Store on Mill Street. Nickolai was appointed district manager for Jamesway Manufacturing Co. and the family will move to near Madison.
Duvall: Lloyd Everard was injured in a two-car collision and was hospitalized. Occupants of the other car, Lloyd Jilot and George Renard, were only slightly injured. The accident happened at the intersection of County D and County Y.
Tonet: Bernard Jonet recently received his discharge from the U.S. Army and is at home now.
Ryan: Waverly Gardens was the scene of a dinner and outing Sunday night for the employees of Casco Cheese Co,, their wives and friends.
Countywide: On the eve of annual school meetings, Supt. Arnold Chada said the county had 31 one-room schools, 10 two-room schools, one five-room and a 10-room outside of three Union High schools and Algoma’s city school system.
Bolt: Farmer Fred C. Petska died following a haying mishap. Petska died within minutes after his skull was fractured when he fell backward off a load of hay.
Kewaunee: Two courthouse typewriters went to war this week. The director of typewriting procurement met with the property committee to arrange the transfer of the typewriters from peacetime to war work.
Casco: Mrs. Jule Thiry received official notice of the death of her son, Marine Pfc Clarence Prokash. He was listed as missing in action in the Philippines.
Carlton: Franklin Lutheran Church was the site of Charles Olsen’s funeral. He was 80 and died on the same farm where he was born in 1863. He married Anna Hansen in 1885.
Rio Creek: Joe DeCramer resigned his position at Builders Veneer and has accepted the cheesemaker position vacated by Louis Gregor.
Swamp Creek: Mr. and Mrs. Wencil Hromas visited with Mr. and Mrs. J. Waurika on Sunday.
Bolt: A number of friends and neighbors called on local cheesemaker Frank Kraynik on Saturday evening. They all had a most enjoyable time.
Algoma: C Boedecker, Henry Gericke, Henry Grimm and Joseph Schmidt motored to Milwaukee where they remained until Monday. They made the trip in Mr. Boedecker’s Overland Country Club car.
Ahnapee: The excursion train to the Ringling Bros. circus and menagerie leaves for Green Bay at 6 p.m. July 31. Round-trip fare is only $1.55.
Casco: John C. Carl of this village has his large store nearly finished and will be able to move in his stock of goods. He has been utilizing part of the depot since his former building was destroyed by fire. The building is on the site of the burned structure.
Town of Pierce: Miss Anna Hoffman of Pierce and W. Utech, Jr. of the Town of Ahnapee plan to be married at the Evangelical Lutheran church at Rankin. The contracting parties are well known and are wished future happiness.
Carlton: The dramatic entertainment given by the amateur troupe was first-class. The troupe proposes to repeat the play at Kewaunee.
Kewaunee: The way the Bohemian Turners performed on the pole and bars in Leintecker’s grove on the Fourth is a credit to the boys. Ahnapee citizens will have the pleasure of a performance on Sunday.
Krok: A town resident of 74 had both legs broken by a fractious span of young horses running away. On account of his advanced age, it is feared the injuries will prove fatal.
Lincoln: The stock of P.J. Challe’s store is being disposed of at Darbellay’s building under the auspices of Sheriff Wery.
