Gloria Naze

Gloria June (Hartwig) Naze, 90, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2023, at Sycamore Lodge Senior Living surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 2, 1933, in Brussels, WI to Edward (Ed) and Myrtle (Richmond) Hartwig.  Gloria graduated from the Grade and High Schools in Algoma.  She learned from a young age the importance of hard work, accountability, and a firm belief that if you were going to exchange time doing something, you needed to enjoy it and make it count.  She was employed at the Algoma Box & Dowl Company from the late 50’s until the late 60’s.  She then spent the next 33 years in various assembly line supervisory roles and retired from Emerson Electric, previously called Doerr Electric and W. W. Grainger, in the early ‘90’s.  Despite officially announcing her retirement, Gloria’s passion for camaraderie coupled with her work ethic propelled her to join WS Packaging in a part-time capacity working in the rewind department for three years.  Despite the hard work put forth by Gloria each day, her passion was squarely focused on providing for her family and ensuring that her children never went without.  She was strong willed, determined, and happiest when surrounded by friends or when family came to visit.
Gloria’s interests were diverse including “supper-clubbing’, snowmobiling, hunting, cooking/baking, fishing, ceramics, spending time at her parent’s cottage in Crivitz, WI, relaxing at her pool, hosting her annual Christmas Eve holiday party, inclusive of the Midwest staple, cannibal sandwiches, or giving her ‘coaching critique’ following a Packer win or loss!  Gloria was also a dedicated parishioner at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Algoma.  She not only was a regular attendee for Sunday service but spent countless hours of charitable work crocheting clothing for the troops abroad and those less fortunate.  She also used her crocheting skills to give special and unique gifts to many friends and family members.  Gloria had a zest for life.  As her life slowed down in the past few years, she found much happiness in making and taking phone calls from family and friends; she loved getting photos of her grandkids and making sure that they knew that ‘Grandma’ was always thinking of them and had them tucked in her heart!
Gloria is survived by her three sons, Scott Felber (Algoma), Lee (Cheryl) Felber (Algoma) and West (Lindsay) Naze (Larchmont, NY); eight wonderful stepchildren (Brian, Kris, Kay, Lisa, Karen, Patti, Robert Jr & Kevin); many dearly loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends…too many to list, but always remembered.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Myrtle Hartwig; husband, Robert (Bob) Naze, brothers Daryl Hartwig and Don (Harriett) Hartwig; sister Agnes Langer and brother-in-law, Stanley Langer.
A burial service will be held on September 29th at Evergreen Cemetery for Bob & Gloria for immediate family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to ADRC of Kewaunee County, Christian Servants Caregivers, Compassus Hospice, Door County Medical Center, Schinderle Funeral Home, Pastor Moll, special family friend-Sharon Hedrington & Sycamore Lodge Senior Living.    Schinderle Funeral Home in Algoma is assisting the Naze family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Gloria may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.schinderlefuneralhome.com.
