Posted

Heidi Gisela Johnsen of Algoma, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 16th among her close family.

Born September 19th, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois to Gisela and Heinz Honnigman, Heidi lived her life as a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched countless lives with her kind and loving nature. Heidi’s passion for the wilderness, for nature and plants, inspired many, and she spent her later years devoted to the Ice Age Trail Alliance, of which she was an enthusiastic member. Heidi loved nothing more than to work in her garden, hike on the trail, and crochet afghans for everyone she loved. She was a faithful and devoted member of her church, and she loved to travel. She finished her career traveling the country as a long haul trucker with her husband. She lived an extraordinary life filled with adventures, laughter, and so much love.

Heidi is survived by her husband Douglas, and her children Melanie, Christopher, Erica, Casandra, and Marshall. She is also survived by her mother Gisela and her brother James, and by her many grandchildren, in-laws, and extended family who all loved her dearly.

A memorial service will be held for Heidi on September 23rd at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Algoma, and will be followed from 12-7 by a party to celebrate her life.

Memorial photos can be sent to heidi2023@submit.memento.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ice Age Trail Alliance in Heidi’s name.
