James Charles

James Julius Charles, devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away at the age of 91 on Sunday, August 27, 2023, in Green Bay with family by his side.  He was born to the late Joseph J. and Mary F. (DeVos) Charles on June 9, 1932, in the township of Lincoln, WI.  After high school, he married Muriel C. Friex on October 25, 1949, they celebrated 73 years of marriage before her passing in 2022. Jim was a retired semi driver for LCL Transit in Green Bay logging over two million accident-free miles during his career. Jim is survived by his five children: Kathy (Tom) Worachek, Green Bay, WI; Tom (Mari) Charles, DePere, WI; Patty (Russ) DelMarcelle, Ontonagan, MI; Jay (Vicky) Charles, Green Bay, WI; and Christine Kane, Wi. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother Richard Charles, Luxemburg; in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, 14 siblings, in-laws, one infant son and two infant granddaughters.  Family and friends may call at the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum, between 11:00 am. and 12:50 pm. on Thursday, August 31, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm following the visitation, with Rev. Adam J. Bradley. The entombment will complete the service.
