Janet R. Merens, 93, Green Bay, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024. She was born January 29, 1931, in Kewaunee to Joseph and Loretta (Crabb) Schanilec.

Janet graduated from Kewaunee High School. She worked as a dental hygienist for many years at an office in Kewaunee and later taught for the NWTC dental program. At St. Willebrord Catholic Church she was active with their ESL program teaching English. Janet met the love of her life, Roger Merens at a ballroom dancing class. The two were married in May of 1984 and celebrated 37 years together. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2021. Janet and Roger traveled extensively, world-wide. She loved the time they spent in Greece and residing in Sun City, FL.

She is survived by her siblings-in-law, Dennis (Judy) Merens, Sandee (Tom) Eiler, Janice Mueller; nieces, Sarah (David) Sires, Kristin Saharsky; nephews, Brian (Kathie) Saharsky, Matthew (Carrie) Mueller, Andrew (Jessica) Mueller; and a circle of wonderful neighbors and many friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roger; parents, Joseph and Loretta; brother-in-law, Don Mueller; aunts, uncles, and nephew, Daniel Merens.

Friends and family will gather at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Ln., from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Friday, February 16; A Eulogy for Janet will be given prior to the start of Mass with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:30 a.m., Rev.
