Keith James Rouse, 65, of Algoma, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on July 26, 2026.
He was born on May 2, 1961, in Milwaukee to Barbara Gigot and Jim Rouse. Keith grew up with a love of hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. Later in life, he dedicated more than 10 years to fostering teens and young people, taking great pride in providing them with a safe and welcoming home.
Keith was a man known for his humor, stubbornness, and unmistakable personality. He had a way of leaving behind stories that will be remembered and retold for years.
He was deeply devoted to his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who were the center of his world. He took great pride in watching them grow and would have given them anything.
He was a lifelong Wisconsin sports fan, he supported the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers through every season. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sharing stories that often grew better with time.
He is survived by his children, Brittany (Todd) Tahlier, Chelsea (Michael) Johnson, and adopted son Avery Vanderwegan; his grandchildren, McKenna Tahlier, Madelyn Tahlier, and Jaysie Johnson; and his sisters, Kim Rouse and Debbie Graf. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Gigot; his father, Jim Rouse; and his sister, Cindy Peterson.
True to Keith's no-fuss approach—and to ensure the neighbors aren't called out one last time to round up his dog—no formal funeral or visitation will be held. In accordance with his wishes, the family will observe his passing privately.
If you'd like to honor Keith's memory, double-check that your backyard fence is latched, take a quiet walk on Lake Michigan or sit around the fire with an ice cold cherry Pepsi.
