Kewaunee chamber invites guests to Sip, Savor & Support at Lakehaven Hall

KEWAUNEE - Residents and visitors can sample local foods and beverages, buy or bid on locally created art and more — and all for a historic cause — when the Kewaunee Area Chamber of Commerce holds its second annual Sip, Savor, & Support on April 28.

Sip, Savor, & Support exposes guests to a taste of Northeast Wisconsin and the lakeshore, with five wineries, a craft brewery, artisan cheese makers, health food producers and Door County cherries among the items available. Other foods and refreshments will be sold during the event.

For art aficionados, local artists will show and sell oil and acrylic paintings, photographs, jewelry and pottery.  Also, art students from Kewaunee High School Art students will be selling painted ceiling tiles, with proceeds benefiting the all-inclusive playground that opened at the school last year.

Guests at last year's Sip, Savor and Support decoratively paint their own wine glasses as part of the event at Lakehaven Hall in Kewaunee.

Other proceeds will go to the Friends of the Kewaunee Pier Head Lighthouse Restoration Committee, which has been raising money for the continued restoration of the historic Kewaunee lighthouse.  The committee will hold a silent auction, and guests also can paint their own wine glasses or wine bottles to help the committee.

Works by area artists not only will be for sale but up for silent auctions during Sip, Savor and Support. Proceeds from the auction go to the Friends of the Kewaunee Pier Head Lighthouse Restoration Committee.

Also, Kewaunee Mayor Sandi Christman will recognize Jay and Kay Stoeger of Cold Country Vines and Wines in a special program at 2 p.m. for their work in promoting the lighthouse restoration.

Live music will be provided throughout the afternoon by the Kewaunee High School Chamber Choir and Jazz Band.

Sip, Savor & Support runs from 1 to 6 p.m. April 28 at Lakehaven Hall, 96 Ellis St., Kewaunee.  Admission $10 for ages 21 and older, $5 ages 20 and younger (food samples only).  For more information, call 920-388-4822 or go to www,kewaunee.org.
