Kewaunee Co. schools receive library aid

The three Kewaunee County school districts’ libraries are expected to share in $32.1 million from Common School Fund investments.

Secretary of State Doug La Follette presented Kurt Kiefer, assistant state superintendent of Public Instruction, with a $32.1 million ceremonial check during the Wisconsin Educational & Media Technology Association’s (WEMTA) annual conference at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells, according to a Monday news release from the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL),

Algoma School District is expected to receive $26,765, Luxemburg-Casco School District, $72,372; and Kewaunee School District, $37,988. The aid will be distributed during 2017.

BCPL was established in 1848 by Article X of the Wisconsin constitution to manage assets of the Common School Fund. This permanent endowment was created in the constitution to benefit public education.
