KEWAUNEE COUNTY - Sandi Christman will return for another term as mayor of Kewaunee, and the Luxemburg-Casco School District will have almost $28 million for improvements after Tuesday's election.
Oh, and we have a tie.
Christman held off a challenge by James Kleiman II, 384 to 332, to retain the office.
Voters in the L-C School District passed both referendum questions for school improvements totaling almost $28 million. The first question asked for up to $15.9 million for building additions and/or remodeling the district's primary, intermediate and high schools; updating the district's undersized gymnasium and classroom technology; and more.
The second question asked for up to $11.9 million to build a new middle school at the south end of the current high school.
The tie came in in the county board race in District 10 (Town of Franklin), where John Wochos and Thomas Cretney each garnered 102 votes.The numbers are unofficial until the county Board of Canvassers meets to validate the ballots next Tuesday, April 10.
If the vote remains tied after the canvass, a coin flip will determine the winner.
The county board will meet for an organizational session at 5:30 p.m. April 24 at the Kewaunee County Administration Center, 810 Lincoln St., Kewaunee.
According to a press release from the county, 5,483 registered voters cast ballots in the election, either in person or absentee, for a 35-percent turnout.
Eight of the 20 seats on the county board will be filled with new supervisors.
Nine of the seats were contested, and another two had no registered candidates and will be won by write-in votes.
District 5 (Luxemburg, Wards 4-5) had no registered candidates and will be decided by write-in votes. District 13 (Town of Casco, Ward 1, West Kewaunee, Ward 2, and Town of Luxemburg, Ward 3) did not have a registered candidate on the ballot after incumbent Sup. John Pagel died in a recent plane crash, but Kim Kroll registered as a write-in candidate.
Results will not be known in those two districts until the Board of Canvassers meets April 10 to confirm the ballots. County Clerk Jamie Annoye said if a write-in winner declines the seat, the board will appoint someone to fill it.
Of the five incumbents seeking to retain their seats, three won — Douglas Doell in District 8, Mary Ellen Dobbins in District 12 and Lee Luft in District 18 — but Daniel Olson beat Sup. Donna Thomas in District 6 and Joseph Lukes defeated Patrick Benes in District 17.

District 2 Alderperson: No official registered candidates; Jim Anderson and Scott Meverden are registered write-ins.
Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Rebecca Dallet has been declared winner of the race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court over Sauk County Circuit Judge Michael Screnock, holding a margin of 56 to 44 percent with 78 percent of votes counted across the state. In Kewaunee County, Dallet edged Screnock, 2,724 to 2,701. .
The question asking Wisconsin voters if they want to eliminate the state treasurer post was roundly voted down, 61 to 39 percent with 78 percent of results in. Kewaunee County residents narrowly voted in favor of elimination, .2.579-2,574.
