Kewaunee County Emergency Management

Posted

KEWAUNEE – On Saturday, May 3 starting at 9 a.m. and concluding around 3 p.m., the Brown/Kewaunee Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) members will be using amateur radio to set up and establish alternate methods of communication. In the event of a true emergency, cell phone and landline communication may not be operable.

The ARES group will set up portable radio stations and antennas using emergency power sources in order to communicate with other amateur radio operators. In addition, operators will be communicating with the Wisconsin Emergency Operations Center in Madison to test intrastate communication capabilities.

Brown/Kewaunee Counties ARES is looking for new members. Interested community members may contact Tracy Nollenberg, Emergency Management Director at (920) 845-9701 for more information.
