Kewaunee County Farmer's Market opens third season

The Kewaunee County Farmers Market will begin its third season of operation at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 12.

In honor of the opening, organizers from the Rural Enterprise Network are cooking up something special.

"We're serving a Farm Market Breakfast from 10 until 11 a.m. to highlight some of the market products," said Lynda Cochart, one of the organizers.

An antique tractor show will also be staged.

The Market is located on the grounds of the Flying Pig Gallery and Green Space just south of Algoma on Hwy 42 which is open on Sundays just for the Market.

"We have a number of returning vendors and a few new ones so folks will notice a few changes this year," said Jodi Parins of the Rural Enterprise Network..

What doesn't change is the Market's commitment to the local, rural, economy, Parins said.  Featuring only local products helps put monies back into the county

"Many of our producers are real life farmers, and all our goods are local, so from week to week customers will see a different mix of product depending on who is out making hay and who makes it to the market," said Cochart.

The Rural Enterprise Network also operates The REN Grill at the Market and serves organic brats and hamburgers sourced from Otto's Meats in Luxemburg.
