Kewaunee County has third-highest wealth growth rate in Wisconsin

Posted

KEWAUNEE – A study conducted by SmartAsset analyzing where wealth has increased the most in the past ten years across the United States recognized Kewaunee County for the third highest growth rate in Wisconsin. Kewaunee County ranks 427th nationwide.

SmartAsset is an investment adviser owned by Financial Insight Technology whose stated mission is to help users connect with relevant financial advisors.

To identify the areas with the greatest increases in wealth, SmartAsset compared all U.S. counties across three metrics: investment income, property value and median income over the course of 10 years. The analysis started by calculating the Investment Income for each county by evenly weighing the Ordinary Dividends, Qualified Dividends and Net Capital Gains. From there, SmartAsset calculated the changes in Median Home Value and Median Income for each county, and ranked them on all three metrics. Finally, they took the raw change of the three metrics as well as the Wealth Index to rank the counties with the greatest increase in wealth over a 10-year period.

The median home value raw growth in Kewaunee County is $136,887, meaning an unaltered property worth $250,000 in 2015 could now be worth $386,887.

The median income raw growth in Kewaunee County is $24,587, which means a household earning the Wisconsin median income of $55,638 in 2015 could now be earning $80,225.

The median wealth growth index in Kewaunee County is 31.81, while the county with the highest growth rate in Wisconsin, Polk County, sits at 33.26 — a difference of only 1.45 points.

The growth of Kewaunee County is evident without a financial assessment, though. Whether it’s the rapidly expanding agricultural industry, local wineries like Parallel 44 winning international awards or Kewaunee County’s annual Youth Art Month leading to commissioned student-painted murals popping up around town — or all of it combined — it’s clear that Kewaunee County continues to help lead Wisconsin’s economic growth.
