For the Star-News KEWAUNEE COUNTY – The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation recently awarded $180,500 in grants through the “Stand Together Foundation” annual grants cycle. The awards lend support to six non-profit programs and initiatives working to address poverty and its root causes in Brown, Kewaunee and Oconto counties. The Stand Together Foundation — part of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation’s family of funds — has awarded $1.5 million since 2018 to fund “measurable strategies to move people from the brink of poverty to a place of economic stability and self-sufficiency.” Grant recipients include the Kewaunee County Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) for wraparound support. Kewaunee County Human Services is creating a safe and affordable housing option for families. Many of the families served by the agency are struggling with deep-rooted poverty and inconsistently have their basic needs met. The agency will “wrap around” the individuals residing in the home to fully support their needs and put them on a path to self-sufficiency. Other recipients include Encompass Early Education for the Oconto Falls Childcare & Family Support program; the Golden House for domestic violence homicide prevention and response; The Gateway Collective for socially-inclusive housing; Veterans 1st of NEW for their Tiny Homes Village; and We All Rise: African American Resource Center for the All Seasons Transformation program. The Stand Together Foundation grants program offers one grant cycle annually. The next timeline for applications is Aug. 1 to Oct.1.
