Kewaunee County man appears to have shot wife, then himself in murder-suicide, officials say

Posted

TOWN OF AHNAPEE - The deaths of a husband and wife found in their Ahnapee home Friday night appear to be the result of a murder-suicide.

Based on an initial investigation, the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department reported that 71-year-old Dennis A. McMillan shot Laura M. McMillan, 56, multiple times before turning the gun on himself.

The department received a call just before 7:45 p.m. Friday asking deputies to check on the Ahnapee home. The caller said they were concerned because it been a few days since they heard from an acquaintance who lives at the home.

Deputies responding to the call looked through a window and saw the bodies of two people on the floor. They entered the home and discovered they were dead.

Dennis and Laura McMillan were the owners and occupants of the home, and no other people lived there at the time, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation with assistance from the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.
