Kewaunee County merges Zoning, Land & Water departments

LUXEMBURG - Kewaunee County is merging services provided by its Zoning Department with its Land & Water Conservation Department to become more efficient, effective Wednesday, July 25.

The consolidation comes as Kewaunee County is looking to hire a conservation specialist following the recent retirement of longtime employee Glenn Selner, who served as Director of Zoning with Kewaunee County for nearly 40 years.

“Mr. Selner was a fixture in local government and he was very dedicated to his job,” County Administrator Scott Feldt said. “The goal of this merger is to maximize on the experience that we already have in-house with the ability to cross-train new staff.”

The ideal job candidate for the new position will already have, or be able to obtain, licensing as a Certified Soil Tester (CST) and accreditation for inspecting Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (POWTS), as well as be able to perform duties assigned by the director of the conservation department.

“This is our opportunity to boost productivity and work as an even better team that can dig deeper into environmental issues surrounding groundwater contamination,” said conservation department director Davina Bonness.

As of July 25, the zoning office, located at the Kewaunee County Administration Center, 810 Lincoln Street, Kewaunee, is now part of the Land & Water office at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds, 625 Third St., Luxemburg. The phone number for zoning remains the same, 920-388-7192.
