Kewaunee County offers free skin cancer screening

Posted

KEWAUNEE COUNTY – It’s estimated that skin cancer strikes one in five people in their lifetime, and the Kewaunee County Public Health Department is partnering with Prevea Health to increase awareness in the community.

The public is invited to a free skin cancer screening on Saturday, April 11 at the Prevea Luxemburg Health Center, 101 School Creek Trail, Luxemburg from 8:30 am to noon.

Medical professionals will offer spot checks, discuss the signs of skin cancer and share advice on protecting your skin.

“The single best way to protect yourself is to use sunscreen any time that you are outdoors,” said Cindy Kinnard, RN, director of Kewaunee County Public Health Department. “The sun is out year-round, so we need UV protection in spring, summer, fall and winter too.”

The skin cancer screening is open to all people of any age who reside in Kewaunee County or the surrounding area. To register and schedule an appointment, call the Kewaunee County Public Health Department at 920-388-7160.
