KEWAUNEE - Kewaunee County reported 58 residents have now tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Wednesday's update is an increase of five since the previous Friday, June 26.
While much of the recent surge in positive tests across the state has been attributed to higher numbers among those in their 20s and younger, Kewaunee County Public Health Director Cindy Kinnard said the local surge — 20 new cases in the past three weeks — has been spread relatively equally across the age spectrum, although she did not provide specific numbers.
Of the 58 positive cases, nine are active and 48 have recovered, with one death happening in April.
Kewaunee County also reported 1,631 tests coming back negative, while 57 are pending.
