Kewaunee County voters favored Republican President Donald Trump by a 2-to-1 margin over Democrat and President-elect Joe Biden in the Nov. 3 election.

With the county's canvass of ballots completed Tuesday, the incumbent and running mate Mike Pence received 7,927 votes, or 66.6% of the total, to 3,977 for the former vice president and running mate Kamala Harris. The statewide tally has Biden winning Wisconsin and its 10 electoral votes by about 20,000 over Trump, 1,630,535 (49.4%) to 1,610,001 (48.8%).

In all, 12,142 votes were cast in the county. County Clerk Jamie Annoye said she would need to check if that's a record total for Kewaunee County, but that's a 17.4% increase over the 10,341 residents who voted in the 2016 presidential election between Trump and Hillary Clinton.

The city of Algoma was the only one of the county's 14 municipalities to go for Biden, and that was by seven votes, 826 to 819.

The next closest vote totals were in the towns of Ahnapee and Pierce (304-207 and 282-186 for Trump, respectively) and the city of Kewaunee (893-640 for Trump), meaning Trump received 58% to 60% of the votes in those municipalities.

The race for the 8th Congressional District saw U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher receive 71.6% of the Kewaunee County vote, 8,612-3,412 over Democratic challenger Amanda Stuck. District 1 Assembly Rep. Joel Kitchens received 68.5% of the local vote, 8,203-3,776 over Democratic challenger Kim Delorit-Jensen.

Local races were all uncontested for incumbents: District Attorney Andrew Naze with 9,136 votes, Annoye (9,335), County Treasurer Michelle Dax (10,763) and Register of Deeds Germaine Bertrand (9,328). All ran as Democrats except Dax, a Republican.
