Kewaunee fireworks display was outstanding

Posted

Thank you to Dan Brown and his family for a spectacular fireworks display, July 4, our country's  celebration of its Independence.. It was truly a celebration fitting the occasion and included recognizing the veterans in attendance. Thanks to all of you. We would not enjoy the freedoms we have without your efforts and sacrifices.

Dan and his staff really outdid themselves with the display, both from the ground and on the pier..

And to all the people who left after the ground display, you missed the other half of the show. It was really impressive. All the doings in Kewaunee that day brought a lot of people to town. I heard the bars and restaurants were all packed with people. So it was a win, win situation all around.

In a change of subject, I want to remind people of the Kewaunee High School All-Class reunion at Lake haven Hall, Saturday, July 16, from noon to 10 p.m.

Entertainment begins at 2 with the Greatest Hits Polka Band, followed by Spice at 5 p.m., and Bacchus Lotus beginning at 7:30. I've talked to a lot of people who are planning to attend.

There is no admission charge, but they will be soliciting donations. Food and refreshments will be offered for purchase sponsored by the Kewaunee Fire Department, with proceeds going towards its proposed new Museum to house its antique equipment.

I think an “all-class reunion” was a great idea because people will be able to reminisce with friends either ahead or behind them in school. And I'm sure it will draw people of all ages. So mark that date on your calendar and I will see you there.

I was checking the internet the other day and came upon “Signs That You Are Getting Old.” You sink your teeth in a steak and they stay there. You turn off the lights for economical reasons, not romantic ones. You read the obituaries to find eligible women.

Everything hurts and what doesn't hurt, doesn't work. College kids call you mister. The gleam in your eye is from the sun hitting your bifocals. After painting the town red, you need to take a long rest before applying a second coat.

You have all the answers, but nobody is asking you the questions. After climbing the ladder of success and reaching the top, you realize that it was leaning on the wrong wall. You sit in a rocking chair and can't get it going. The best part of the day is over when the alarm clock rings. All the names in your little black book end with MD. And finally, you get all your exercise acting as a pallbearer for your friends who exercised.

Have a great week, everyone.
