KEWAUNEE – The Kewaunee School District Board of Education and administration learned the results of a community-wide survey on “how to solve the district’s facility needs.”
The survey was distributed to all district households via U.S. Mail and was also available online, and was facilitated by an independent research firm — School Perceptions LLC.
The results were presented to the Kewaunee School Board on Dec. 9 by Dr. Rob DeMeuse, vice president of research with School Perceptions.
Of 522 responding, 62% of district residents said that would support Option No. 1 of two options given.
Option No. 1 shifts eighth grade students to utilize unused space at the high school, while Option No. 2 would build additional space onto the grade school.
DeMeuse also said that 64% of non-parent, non-staff residents support the $26.2 million referendum plan — base plan with option to utilize space at high school and 77% of respondents indicated they believe the district is doing a “good” or “great” job at building pride in the community.
“We are grateful for the strong survey response from our community and staff,” said Kewaunee School Superintendent Scott Fritz. “This input is critical to help inform and guide decision-making by the school board and administration in the coming weeks regarding a facilities referendum for the April 1, 2025 election.”
