L-C Middle School hosts festive pumpkin decorating contest

The halls of Luxemburg-Casco Middle School were recently filled with creativity, color and Halloween spirit as students participated in the annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. From spooky creatures to funny faces, the pumpkins on display showcased the incredible imagination and artistic talent of the students.

Participants had the chance to turn an ordinary pumpkin into a festive masterpiece. Some pumpkins were carved, while other students decorated their pumpkins using paint, markers, fabric and other craft supplies — resulting in a wide variety of unique and eye-catching creations.

A display was set up in the main hallway, allowing everyone in the school to admire the pumpkins and cast their votes for their favorites. A QR code was provided for easy voting, making the process fun and interactive for students and staff alike.

Prizes were awarded to the top three winners. The winners received small gift cards, candy and, of course, plenty of bragging rights. This year’s winners were Hailey Kobriger in first place, Lucas Anderson in second and Jocelynn Whipp in third.

“It was amazing to see how much effort students put into their pumpkins,” said DJ Delebreau, who helped coordinate the event. “Every year the designs get more creative — it’s a fun way to celebrate fall and show school spirit.”

The contest not only encouraged artistic expression but also brought a sense of community and excitement to the school. Students enjoyed sharing their work and supporting their classmates, making this year’s Pumpkin Decorating Contest one of the most successful yet.

A special thank you to Hillside Apple Orchard, who donated pumpkins.
