KEWAUNEE – Lamers Bus Lines, a family-owned transportation company that has served Wisconsin communities since 1944, will host a “Drive the Bus” job fair on Wednesday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 918 Third St., Kewaunee. The event gives community members the chance to test drive a school bus, meet with Lamers staff and apply on the spot for open school bus driver positions.
Unlike a typical job fair, attendees won’t just hear about the job — they’ll experience it. Each visitor will have the opportunity to test drive a school bus in a supervised setting on Lamers property, followed immediately by a sit-down interview with Lamers staff to discuss the role and answer questions.
“We want people to feel what the job is actually like before they decide if it’s right for them,” said Lynn Bergh, school bus safety manager at Lamers Bus Lines. “Getting behind the wheel tends to answer a lot of questions on its own, and it gives us a chance to get to know each person and show them how this job could fit into their life.”
No commercial driver’s license is required to attend or apply — Lamers provides full CDL training in-house. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license and have at least four years of experience driving any vehicle. All hires must complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
The job fair comes as Lamers continues to grow its driver team ahead of the upcoming school year. School bus driving offers flexible hours, a steady schedule built around the school calendar and a direct connection to the community. Learn more at www.GoLamers.com.
